INDIAN RECIPE: Coconut Chutney

Coconut chutney is a popular chutney in South India served as a side dish for a lot of Indian snacks and breakfast items such as dosa, idli, pongal or bajji.

Ingredients for Coconut Chutney:

  • 160gm grated coconut
  • 15 gm roasted gram
  • 8 curry leaves
  • 5 green chillies, chopped
  • 15 gm ginger, chopped
  • 5 gm urad dal
  • 5 gm mustard seeds
  • 15 ml oil
  • Salt to taste

Directions for making Coconut Chutney:

  1. Grind coconut, green chillies, ginger and gram to a paste.

  2. Saute mustard seeds, lentils and curry leaves.

  3. Stir in the ground paste, cook for 3 to 5 minutes.

  4. Allow to cool, refrigerate and use when required.
