INDIAN RECIPE: Pita Bread


Ingredients for Pita Bread:

  • 7 g dry yeast in 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • Salt to taste

Directions for making Pita Bread:

  1. Sift flour and salt and knead with yeast mixture until dough in smooth and elastic.
  2. Dive dough into 8 equal portions.
  3. Roll each portion on a floured surface into circles of 5 inch diameter.
  4. Cover all circles with a cheesecloth and set aside in a warm place for an hour.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 230 degree C until lightly brown and puffed.
  6. Pierce the centre of pita bread. Serve hot.
