INDIAN RECIPE: Khasta Orti


Serves 4-5
Preparation time: 25 minutes
Cooking time: 10 to 15 minutes

Ingredients for Khasta Orti:

  • 2 ½ cups while wheat flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp carom seeds
  • 2 ½ tso sugar
  • 1 ½ cups water

Directions for making Khasta Orti:

  1. To the sieve flour, add salt, sugar and carom seeds. Knead into a hard dough with water. Cover with a moist cloth and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and roll into balls. Dust and roll into 10 cm discs. Prick with a fork evenly.
  3. Bake the rotis for 8 to 10 minutes in a preheated 175 degrees C oven or till light brown in color.
  4. Serve hot, as an accompaniment to any curry dish or with any yogurt preparation.
