Ingredients for Spicy Lentils:
- 1 ¼ cup lentils
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp yellow chilli powder
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- ½ cup cream
- 1 ¼ cup yogurt
- ½ cup clarified butter (ghee)
- 1 tbsp garlic, chopped
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- ½ onions, chopped
- 4 cup red chillies, whole
- Pepper to taste
Directions for making Spicy Lentils:
Pick, clean and wash lentils.
Boil with water (1 Liter), salt and yellow chilli powder till they become tender.
Add garlic paste and cook further for 10 minutes.
Add cream, yoghurt and clarified butter (1/4 cup). Cook again for 10 minutes, stirring frequently so that the clarified butter is incorporated into the lentils.
Heat the remaining clarified butter in a pan. Saute the chopped garlic, cumin and onions for 2 minutes.
Add whole red chillies and sauté till brown. Add this mixture to the cooked lentils and stir for 5 to 10 minutes.
Sprinkle pepper, top with a knob of butter and serve hot, accompanied by an Indian bread.
